Fire & Rescue

These organizations are made up of dedicated volunteers who many valuable hours to the town and thus hold down property taxes. Volunteers are always needed. If interested, please call 425-3111.

Road Commissioner

Hugh Lewis, Jr. Road Commissioner and his crew maintain all town-owned roads. The scope of work includes repair of roads in the spring and summer months and snow removal in the winter. Phone: 425-2223   

Recreation

Town Beach: Located on Lake Road near the Holmes Covered Bridge, open to residents and non-residents. Beach stickers are available at the beach, which is open 9 A.M to 9 P.M daily, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Seasonal stickers cost $10 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Season stickers for a second vehicle cost $2. Seasonal windsurfing passes cost $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Day stickers cost $1 for residents and $2 for non-residents.
Tennis Courts: Located at the beach area and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Ice Skating Rink and Warming Huts
: Located next to Charlotte Central School on the Charlotte-Hinesburg Road. 
Public Boat Launching Access: Located on Cedar Beach Road.
Public Canoe Launching Access: Located by the Quinlin Covered Bridge on Lewis Creek Road, just off Spear Street. Hiking Trails: Located on Pease Mountain behind Charlotte Central School. Contact: Jessie Bradley, Chair, Recreation Commission at 425-3636

Commuter Rail

Beginning in October, 1998, commuter train service will commence between Charlotte and Burlington with a goal of improving mobility and accessibility in the Shelburne Road Corridor. This commuter rail service is also seen as an opportunity to test the feasibility of rural passenger rail, obtain federal funds for track upgrades and expand transportation capacity in a critically important corridor. Churches

Congregational Church
: Located on Church Hill Road between Route 7 and Charlotte Central School. 
Interim Pastor: Rev. Richard Crocker. Worship service: 10 am Sundays; Church School also starts at 10 am on Sunday. Phone/Fax:  425-3176.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church
: Located on Spear Street, just south of  the intersection with Charlotte-Hinesburg Road.  Pastor: Gerald Ragis. Masses:  8:30 am and 11 am Sundays (8 am and 10 am during the summer months);  4:30 pm Saturdays; call for weekday times. Religious Education classes for K-12 begin in September with classes held the First Sunday of the month at Charlotte Central School from 8:15 am to noon. Phone:  425-2637.

Post Office

Located on Ferry Road, west of Route 7, next to the Town Hall. Open 8 am to 5 pm weekdays, and 8 am until noon on Saturdays. Closed Sundays and holidays. Postmaster:  Stuart Fath. Phone:  425-2200.

Charlotte News

The Charlotte News is published bimonthly and mailed free of charge to all residents. Office is located in the Congregational Church.  Editor: Laura Cahners-Ford. Mailing address is Post Office Box 251.  Phone/Fax:  425-4949

Old Brick Store: Located at the intersection of Ferry and Greenbush Roads. Proprietors are Rolf and Carolyn Sennhenn.  Open 7 am to 8 pm, Monday through Saturday,
