POLICY AND PROCEDURES CHANGE

SEWAGE ORDINANCE

In order to assure full compliance with the State of Vermont Environmental Protection Rules, Chapter 1, Wastewater and Potable Water Supply Rules, effective August 16, 2002 and the Town of Charlotte Sewage Ordinance for Wastewater Disposal and On-Site Sewage Systems, effective December 24, 2004, the Town of Charlotte Selectboard adopted, by resolution dated March 14, 2005, the following procedural change for all applications submitted to the town for a subdivision or a septic system construction permit.

Effective immediately, soils analysis (test pits) that are performed on-site as part of an application for septic permit or subdivision permit must be conducted in conjunction with the Town of Charlotte septic system consultant or his designated agent.  Designers are to schedule test pits with the town consultant by contacting the town Sewage Officer.  At least two weeks notice prior to the test date is required.  This requirement is incorporated as part of the application procedure found in the Town of Charlotte Sewage Ordinance at Section 5(a), page 8 and may only be waived by the Town of Charlotte septic system consultant.
