Road NetworkWaterbury has over 73 miles of local, state and federal highways: approximately 62.3 miles in the Town and 11.1 miles in the Village. Almost 15 percent of the Town's roads are state highways, compared to about 10 percent in the Village. Interstate 89, which is federally funded but maintained by the State, runs between the western portion of Waterbury Town and the eastern portion of Waterbury Village. The interchange, Exit 10, is located in the Village and is a major exit from the interstate to key recreation areas in the region: the Mad River Valley to the south and to the Stowe area to the north, both via Route 100, and to Bolton Valley to the west via Route 2. RailThe Central Vermont Railway, Inc. owns and maintains the railroad network through Waterbury. The railroad provides important freight service to Waterbury industries and has the potential to influence the location of future industries. Passenger train service is provided Amtrak. The Montrealer makes two stops daily at the train station in Waterbury Village, one at 6:00 AM to Montreal and the second around 9:30 PM to New York City and, ultimately, Washington, DC.
