It is very important that every taxpayer, if eligible, files for this program. No one on a retiree's fixed income need get hurt by this bond issue.
WHEN DO YOU FILE?
The forms are filled out during the state income tax return filing time. Even if you do not owe a federal or state income tax, you must file for the rebate and prebate at this time.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Anyone who is a resident homeowner and has a household income of less than $47,000 qualifies for a rebate. Prebates are based on slightly higher income levels.
WHAT IS IT?
The "prebate" is a check the state sends you ahead of time to help pay a part of your property taxes. The "rebate" is a check the state sends to reimburse you for a part of your property taxes.
